Vinta Jain- Soft Pastels
" I take landscapes and objects from my everyday surroundings and animate them in an illustrative manner so that they become
part of a storytelling process"
Vinita Jain was born and brought up in India. She has been settled in the U.S. and in North Carolina for the past seven years and
this is where she was first introduced to pastels. Art has been her passion since childhood and she worked as a Graphic Designer
in India. After coming to North Carolina, she took courses in Drawing and Color Theory at Meredith College and has been taking
pastel classes with L. Diane Johnson, who is a renowned plein-air artist.
Although having worked in different media, Vinita now primarily works with soft pastels, enjoying the spontaneity and vivid colors of
the medium. Her subjects include objects in and around her home. She is influenced and inspired by the works of Impressionists,
especially Edgar Degas and likes to work in a free and spontaneous manner.

TRYON THEATER AND FILM SOCIETY!
The Tryon Theatre is an independently owned and operated movie theater located at 45 South Trade Street in historic
Tryon, North Carolina. Opened in the early 1930's the Tryon Theatre has continued to serve the Tryon-Landrum-Columbus area with
first run movies on a weekly basis. Show times are Wednesday through Saturday at 8:00 PM with a matinée on Sunday at 3:00 PM. On
the second and fourth Mondays and Tuesdays of the month the theatre shows art-speciality films (foreign, documentaries, etc.) in
association with The Tryon Film Society. The Film Society shows begin at 7:00 PM .
The Tryon Film Sociiety is a division of the Tryon Theatre. Now in its tenth year of operation the film society brings to the local area the
finest in small release art speciality films.

The artist was born and raised south of Chicago, won a scholarship to the Art Institute of Chicago and Chicago Academy of Fine Art.
She sold her first painting at 18, attended the University of Missouri's Art School. After nearly 20 years of raising three children and
running a commercial art company in New England and a gallery in Orlando with her husband, Steve, she decided to go back into
painting full-time.
The next years would bring life on a 37-foot sailboat in Florida, traveling throughout the Caribbean, Hawaii and across this great
country exhibiting, painting and selling to people from all over the world.
Pamela's work has won many awards and is collected residentially and commercially.
